Collection: Caroline Daly

Artist Bio

Caroline Daly is a British artist whose work reflects a deep emotional connection to the natural world, particularly the coastlines of Northumberland, where she grew up, and Kent, where she has lived since 2006.

Caroline studied History of Art at A Level and went on to pursue a BA (Hons) in Hispanic Studies at the University of Nottingham. She lived and worked in Madrid for two years, becoming fluent in Spanish, before returning to the UK to study Law. She began her professional career as a solicitor in London but left the legal profession after relocating to Kent, where she continued to paint while raising her family.

A pivotal moment in Caroline’s artistic journey came in early 2022, when she was diagnosed with a serious medical condition. Although her treatment was successful, the experience had a profound impact on her outlook. Painting became a powerful source of calm, reflection, and emotional healing. This renewed creative focus led her to begin exhibiting and selling her work in 2023.

Artist Statement

Caroline Daly is a painter whose work explores the emotional connection between landscape and light. Working mainly in oils with a painterly, impressionistic style, she captures the shifting moods of nature through expressive brushwork and palette knife techniques. A signature touch in her recent work is the soft use of Persian Rose, adding warmth and subtle highlights across land, sea, and still life.
Inspired by the coastal beauty of her Northumberland roots and her home in Kent, Caroline paints both en plein air and from her garden studio, often working on multiple pieces at once. Her recent travels, from the Isles of Scilly, St Ives, Catalonia, Spain, to Venice, and also locally, Camber, Sands, Hastings and Rye, have inspired new series, each shaped by place, light, and texture.

Caroline believes in the positive power of art and the outdoors, and is interested in the future potential of art therapy as part of her creative journey.
