Biography

I come from an arty family. My mother in fashion and my father was principle of an art college and a successful painter. I followed in their footsteps and studied graphic design at art college in Suffolk. I firstly got a job as a visualiser at an advertising agency in Norwich, then moved to London to spend most of my career as an Art Director in various advertising agencies which I loved. It was a dream career - such fun!

Later my husband and I started our own advertising consultancy which we ran while bringing up our family. After several years I switched careers and worked in the music industry. Still in a creative environment but on a different level.

I moved out of London eight years ago and moved to Tunbridge Wells. I always knew I would turn my graphic career to painting for myself. And here I am doing just that!

Artist statement

I paint as often as I can and get very excited when I see something that I think would make a great painting! My work is inspired by photographs that I take both in the UK and abroad. It could be a structure, the angles and shadows of a building, colours and shapes, engineered or organic. My style is minimalist, linear and ordered. I like to call them 'urban landscapes'. I love impact and strong design. And I just love a blue sky! I paint with acrylic (because it is fast at drying and I'm too impatient to wait) on board which I like because of the smooth surface which helps with the impact of solid colour.

I also undertake commissions and happy to do so.
