Collection: Anna Clement

Bio

Anna Clement lives and works in Sevenoaks, Kent.  After a career as a Chartered Surveyor working in property investment in London, and after her children left home, she  has been able to indulge her lifelong passion for art and now paints as much as possible.  She is mainly self taught but has painted for many years with a group of artist friends, the Stone Street Art Group, from whom she has learned a lot, but also with the benefit of occasional lessons from a renowned group of visiting tutors.

She started exhibiting and selling her work around five years ago, with her paintings being featured in many exhibitions and galleries throughout Kent and Sussex.

She is the winner of a Portrait Award run by Brave Fine Gallery in Malvern, and this year won Galeria Moderna's Open Prize having her winning artwork exhibited in London. She has also had work exhibited in the Mall Galleries, London, as part of the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition 2025.

Artist Statement

Anna's work spans a variety of subjects although she is frequently drawn to flowers and gardens, combining her two passions of art and horticulture.  Echoing Frida Kahlo who said "I paint flowers so they will not die", she seeks to preserve the fleeting beauty of her chosen subjects.

Her colourful, expressive and energetic style is marked by textured paint and bold brushstrokes.  Through this approach, she aims to capture the ever changing rhythms of Nature - the way a single spot in the garden is transformed by each season, bloom or shift in light.

Inspired by the natural cycles of growth and renewal, she tries to infuse her work with a sense of vitality and movement.  She also hopes that the joy she finds in her subjects and the whole painting process resonates with the viewer, inviting them to share in her appreciation of Nature's transient beauty.
