Collection: Alison McLean

Alison McLean is a local self-taught artist who works in oil and cold wax, acrylic and collage.
She draws her inspiration from the nature surrounding her. whether it be on her doorstep or when she travels. The sights, the texture, the experiences and the feelings, nature in all its bounty. It is this that she tries to convey in her artwork.

Alison art ranges from non-representational mark making, to abstract and semi abstract landscapes, florals, and seascapes. She chooses a colour palette, which can be very influenced by the seasons, and uses her intuition as her guide, letting go of what the final outcome will be, letting one mark inform the next.  

Alison  believes that by working in this intuitive way, the resulting artwork is both authentic and honest, reflecting not only the essence of the landscape but also her personal response to it.
