Suspension
Suspension
Kerry Thomas
Two dahlias emerge from shadow -
formed with care,
petal upon petal,
precise and deliberate.
Yet the space around them offers no welcome.
Black and white stretch without horizon,
a place where colour has withdrawn.
Without it, they cannot settle.
They hover instead -
adrift in an unresolved field.
Their beauty remains intact,
but nothing holds them.
And so they stay suspended,
in the fragile tension
between presence
and disappearance.
