Nocturn is my smallest work to date, yet it holds a quiet intensity within its scale. Created following a journey to Lanzarote in 2024, the painting draws inspiration from the island’s elemental landscape, its volcanic textures, shifting light and sculptural forms shaped by wind and time.
This experience deepened my sensitivity to the subtle structures and rhythms found in nature. In Nocturn, surface become central: layered textures and nuanced tonal transitions evoke the stillness of night, while suggesting the raw, organic energy beneath it.
Though intimate in scale, the work invites close attention. It encourages the viewer to pause, draw nearer, and experience the quiet dialogue between material and light.
