Heidi Laughton is an artist based in Kent, UK. Her work explores atmospheric, impressionistic landscapes that evoke a sense of calm and serenity, making them a perfect complement to contemporary interior spaces. Heidi’s paintings are held in several galleries across the UK and have found homes with collectors who value their quiet beauty and emotional depth.

With a rich creative background in music video production and photography, Heidi spent many years immersed in the visual arts before founding her own gallery in Bath. Eventually, she returned to painting, a long-held passion, where she now devotes herself fully to her studio practice.

Heidi works intuitively, often beginning with an impression of a place before allowing the materials to guide the direction of the piece. Using layered textures, translucent glazes, and subtle shifts in colour, Heidi creates landscapes that are both familiar and dreamlike. Her aim is not to replicate a location but to capture the mood or essence of a place. Her impressionistic approach allows for spontaneity, often embracing unexpected results as integral to the final piece.

Heidi’s practice continues to evolve, driven by a love of experimentation and a desire to evoke peace, stillness, and emotional resonance through her art.

"I love to start with an idea, and then manipulate the paints to see what they will produce, working intuitively. I might start with a representational impression of a place but the painting then goes on a journey of it’s own and I’m often surprised at where it ends up - sometimes totally different to the jumping off point. It’s almost as though the canvas or board is telling me what it wants. I’m particularly happy when I push the paints and mediums and they create magic in ways I didn’t expect and I like to keep those in as they are unexpected moments of surprise".
