Miniature Artist

Alison Griffin is a Tenterden based accomplished miniature painter with a professional career spanning over four decades. She is widely recognised for her finely detailed miniature works depicting interiors, gardens, country scenes, and heritage railways. Working almost exclusively in acrylic on board, Alison’s paintings are distinguished by their strong use of light and shade, creating depth and drama within an intimate scale.

Alison has exhibited extensively throughout her career. For many years she showed work at the Francis Iles Gallery in Rochester, Kent, and continues to exhibit with both the Hilliard Society and the Royal Society of Miniature Artists, Sculptors & Gravers (RMS) in London. She served as Vice President of the RMS from 2006 to 2012 and has received numerous awards from the Society, including the prestigious Gold Memorial Bowl (2007), the Prince of Wales Award for Outstanding Miniature Painting (2016), and the People’s Choice Award in 2015 and 2017.

Her work is held in private collections worldwide and has been widely reproduced as limited edition fine art prints and greetings cards. Publishers include Medici, Rosenstiels, and Lings.

Alongside her studio practice, Alison has taught miniature painting for many years, both privately and through adult education programmes, sharing her specialist knowledge and enthusiasm for the discipline.
