Collection: Agness Clark

Agness Clark is a UK-based artist and photographer based in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex. Originally from Poland, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk in 2001 with a Master's degree in Ceramics and Sculpture. Her creative path began at the High School of Art, where she explored photography, painting, and sculpture, and first discovered her love for darkroom work.

Agness's practice is shaped by her fascination with change. She moves freely between photography, painting, and mixed techniques - following ideas as they appear, whether in dreams or everyday moments. Some works stay close to reality, others drift toward abstraction. In her photography, she enjoys variety, capturing anything from landscapes and plants to portraits and small details of the world around her.

After moving to London, she exhibited her work in galleries across the UK and built a successful career in commercial photography. Her images have appeared in Elle Decoration, Country Living, Home & Garden, and several books. She was shortlisted for The British Photography Awards in 2021 and 2023.

Now living in St Leonards-on-sea, Agness continues to explore new ways of creating - always curious, always shifting, and always open to where the process might lead.

Artist statement

My work is driven by curiosity and a love of change. I explore different forms of expression, from photography to painting and mixed media. Each medium offers its own way to tell a story or capture a feeling, and I enjoy finding how they can connect and influence one another.

I don't follow one fixed style - I like to experiment and stay open to new ideas. The process of creating, with all its surprises, is what keeps me inspired.

Art, to me, is a conversation. I hope my work invites people to look closer, to feel something, and to find their own meaning in what they see.
